![]() Do the subsidies shape the circulation of small literatures? Based on semi-structured interviews with acquisition editors of publishing houses in five European countries, the paper provides an insight into the ways the subsidies impact their decision-making. Ĭan states shape the dissemination of a small literature? A comparison across EuropeĪlmost every European country has institutionalised the support of literary export. This paper focuses on a strategy used to represent rural people, or “simple folk,” in narratives whose goal is to motivate readers to reassess their own attitudes towards the folk. Narrative narrative genres argument rhetorical and narrative devices persuasion Božena Němcová Vítězslav Hálek Josef Kajetán Tyl Available at various institutes of the ASCR The City Dweller´s Distrust of Folk. In some works, this narrative device permeates the entire text and affects its genre - in Božena Němcová’s short story “Poor Folk” the “slice of life” genre intertwines with the genre of argument: every situation presented is in some regards an argument against the previously established idea that “city people distrust the folk.” Příspěvek se zaměřuje na motivační strategii reprezentace venkovského lidu, resp. In rural-themed prose from the 1850s through the 1870s, the subject matter of this study, this constellation of ideas and opposing ideas is regularly reflected in both the story and the narrative discourse and forms a stable narrative device, which substantially contributes to forming the narrative point-of-view and its effectiveness in persuading readers. In contrast, we also find rather explicit counterarguments against these views in the speech of the narrator or in the speech, actions, and behaviors of the characters. This strategy is based on the distrustful or dismissive views of city people towards the folk as implicitly voiced by the narrator or by a specific character in the narrative. Urban dwellers’ prejudiced perception of the countryside represented in such narratives can be simply formulated through contrasting images: for example, the progress, education, and conveniences offered by the city versus the backwardness, ignorance, and poverty of the countryside. The authorial intent of such works draws from the idea that traditional values are not appreciated and therefore must be discovered and protected (e.g., language, the past, the rural folk). Other stuff came along in the intervening years that grabbed people's attention, but with the Synchron project they have stepped up to the plate and learned from what the competitors have done. VSL have long been known as being the first vendor to really succeed in delivering True Legato. carefully crafted MIDI renderings, but this shortcoming is adequately addressed by the improved usability of the Synchron Series, which also has a dry option still available but otherwise has an excellent internal workflow (and available starting point presets) for mic mixing and EQ etc. The original VSL series, which was about as dry as possible, took a lot of effort to work with, meaning that it wasn't always the best for real-time playing vs. VSL products in general are hyper-articulate and warm (plus dark, as opposed to the tendency towards brightness in many of the American orchestral packages). The main confusion and dilemma currently is that they have now done a few different string packages newly-recorded for the Synchron series, which is unusual for that company and in some ways seems a reaction to some (in my view unfair) criticisms received for their first Synchron Strings package. The original libraries have now all been SYNCHRON-ized except for the mid-sized Orchestral Strings, which apparently are fully replaced by the from-scratch Synchron Strings. They have some innovative legato handling that has gone the extra mile during the past year or two, and they have applied their new techniques to older libraries at this point, in the context of the refactoring for the Synchron Stage versions.Įxpensive libraries, but on sale frequently and possible to buy incrementally or even via "taster" editions that include a wide collection of instruments. One of the primary aims of the analysis process is to summarize and compress the data. But how do you keep track of dozens of memos and their valuable content? In conjunction with coding, many researchers also work with memos in which they write down notable observations, hypotheses, thoughts, code descriptions, and much more. The Smart Publisher is a tool that creates thematically structured reports in a finished layout. MAXQDA lets you retrieve coded segments according to different criteria (e.g., those that overlap, those in close proximity to one other, etc.) and display or export them in several ways. Moreover, codes are allowed to develop throughout the analysis process, and they can be changed, differentiated, or integrated into more abstract codes. In contrast to earlier manual techniques, the surrounding context of each coded area is also immediately visible when working with the software. How do I compile all the segments coded with the same category? How do I keep track of all the codes I have assigned? MAXQDA not only indicates within the texts, images, and videos themselves which codes have been assigned to them and where but can also compile a list of all the places that have been assigned with the same code. Because categories play such a central role in many analysis methods, one should take sufficient time over the construction of the category system. When working with categories, the code definitions play a very important role they are used to record what a code means and when exactly it is assigned. Inductive, data-based category building is very effectively supported in MAXQDA by the “Creative Coding” function. In the second case, the categories are developed based on the empirical data. In the former case, the categories are concept-based, i.e., defined before the actual analysis of the empirical data starts. The two opposing poles of category formation are usually referred to as deductive and inductive category formation. This chapter deals with different types of category systems and different ways of arriving at a coding frame that is optimally suited for analysis. The longer and more intensively you work with your data, the more codes are likely to be generated and the more coding is carried out. ![]() In addition to working with videos, this chapter will also cover how to code and analyze still images, such as photos and screenshots of web pages. In contrast to previous logging of observations, it is now possible to watch scenes repeatedly and have them coded by several people at different times, which significantly improves the quality of the analysis. As a method of data collection, video has of course led to great progress, especially for research into nonverbal behavior. ![]() Consequently, there has also been a steadily growing need to be able to analyze this type of data material scientifically and to treat it in a similar methodological manner to interview or focus groups. Now virtually all researchers can produce high-quality video recordings in the field-at no cost. And this, in turn, has opened up new opportunities for empirical research and the areas of field research and educational research in particular. The tremendous technical progress made in recent years means that we can now take amazingly high-quality photos and video recordings with commercially available smartphones. Video data is multidimensional, appeals to different senses, and can affect the viewer much more potently than texts can. You can begin to explore images and video recordings, too-a task that is certainly very different from exploring textual data. In this first phase of your analysis, you will not only get to know your material, but you will also begin to build a large network of connections, comments, ideas, and hypotheses. But digital tools are far more powerful, because text passages can be linked to each other, for example, as well as to other documents, websites, images, or geographical locations. ![]() At first, working with digitized texts may seem much like working with a physical reference book. You can make notes and comments, record questions and ideas, highlight anything that seems important, and search for words or word combinations in texts using lexical search functions. The software will not do this for you, but it does provide a number of tools to support you in your explorative work. Qualitative data analysis is a fascinating and rewarding process that challenges researchers to properly engage with their material and explore it in great detail. ![]() This technique of using your mobile phone as a baby monitor app is not proper and must not be practiced as a permanent method for baby monitoring. But well, since you are using the feature on your phone, you will miss those things. Another disadvantage is that the standard baby monitors come equipped with many features such as singing lullabies, night visions, creating soothing sounds, and even a feature by which you can talk to the baby. If that phone disconnects from the internet, you won't be able to monitor your baby. One of the most basic problems is that you need to make sure that both the phones or at least the one monitoring the baby need to connect to the internet at all points of time. Using your phone as a Baby Monitor is easy, but it has some little disadvantages too. Cons of Using Baby Monitor Apps For Android Well, you take your phone everywhere, and that is your baby monitor too. In addition to this, you even won't have to carry an extra device with you at all times to watch over your baby. You can see your baby from anywhere as long as your phone is connected to an internet connection. In the same way, as it is inexpensive, it is very much convenient. And well, installing a free app on your phone will also not harm or cost no money. Using a phone that was lying around initially on your phone as a useless item will only make your work lesser expensive. Well, there are many advantages of using your old phone as a baby monitor, and the first and foremost advantage is that it's pretty much inexpensive. Pros of Using Baby Monitor Apps For Android It’s available for both Android and iOS devices, and it’s free. There are many baby monitoring apps on the market, but baby monitor 3G is one of the best.
Physical stiffening of the large arteries is recognized as the consequence of chronic irreversible vascular aging and deposition of atherosclerotic plaques along the arterial walls. Stiffer arteries are susceptible to rise in ΔP level due to the reduction in arterial compliance and associated increase wave reflection amplitude and PWV. The numeric difference between SBP and DBP, referred to as pulse pressure (ΔP), is dependent on the cardiac output, elastic behavior of the aorta and large arteries, blood pulse wave reflection and pulse wave velocity (PWV). Among the parameters that characterize BP, the systolic BP (SBP) and diastolic BP (DBP) values are widely used as an independent predictor of future cardiovascular risks and outcomes. The prognostic importance of arterial blood pressure (BP) parameters as a risk factor for cardiovascular events is well established.
